Nicole J. Morgan
GRADUATE STUDENT at the University of South Carolina
Hello
Welcome to my portfolio
I consider myself an accidental Instructional Designer. 8 years ago, I took a training role within my organization, Cummins, Inc. Prior to that, I spent the previous 7 years working in the Sales and Service Branch in Charleston, SC, holding various roles as an individual contributor and leader. Within each of those roles, I enjoyed being the one my peers could reach out to for support, whether to coach a new team member or help articulate a new process to the broader team. Seeing my peers and team thrive because of the support I provided energized me.
My enthusiasm for empowering others in their learning and development sparked my journey. Eager to learn more and expand my knowledge, I pursued a degree that aligns with my passions and career aspirations. Now, at the University of South Carolina, I am currently working towards an M.Ed. Learning Design and Technologies. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from USC and an Associate in Business Administration from Trident Technical College. In addition to my academic pursuits, I've earned valuable certifications from the Association of Talent Development (ATD) in Creating ROI and Instructional Design and completed enriching courses with Microsoft, Adobe, and Articulate through Udemy. I’m excited about the path ahead and the opportunity to make a positive impact!
In the most recent years, I’ve gained credibility through my capability of leading teams successfully through change and challenging initiatives with learning and development within our organization. In my work as a leader in L&D, I’ve pushed the envelope on what training is in our organization, how it’s delivered, how it’s measured, and how we increase customer satisfaction and that of our employees. Two things come to mind that showcase the effort I’ve put forth – one is increasing the retention rate of our employees who graduated our training program versus those who did not. The other was being recognized by our President and leader of the distribution business for my creation of our first ever Service Operations Academy and a Business Impact Award.
Today, as the Director of Global Sales and Service Enablement at Cummins, I’m tasked with leading a team of 20+ leaders, instructional designers, facilitators, and consultants dedicated to increasing efficiency, profitability, sales, and customer satisfaction in over 190 countries across the globe. My role allows me to partner with stakeholders and leaders in our Sales, Service, Parts, and Customer Support businesses to drive strategic initiatives to move us into a better, cleaner, and more sustainable future.
